Family
Dog Obedience
An online course for dogs 5 months and older

Feeling like your dog just doesn't listen?
Maybe "sit" works in the kitchen but not at the park. Maybe you've tried tips from the internet, friends and family, and each one says something different.
Here's the good news: your dog isn't being stubborn. Dogs usually don't listen because they don't understand what we're asking. That tends to come down to three things:
The instruction isn't clear to your dog. Mixed signals, repeated commands or unclear hand cues make it hard for a dog to know what we want.
A training step got missed. Skills need to be built in the right order. Skip a step and the skill falls apart under pressure.
The skill was never practised in different places. A dog who sits perfectly at home may not realise the word means the same thing at the park, because dogs don't generalise automatically.
All three are fixable, and that's exactly what this course walks you through.
Obedience that starts with the relationship
Most courses jump straight to "sit" and "stay." But a command is only as reliable as the relationship behind it.
If there's no consistent structure and boundaries at home, your dog doesn't know what to expect from you. And if your dog doesn't yet trust and respect you, they have little reason to listen when something more interesting is happening, like a visitor or another dog.
Without that foundation, obedience tends to work in the kitchen and fall apart everywhere else.
That's why Family Dog Obedience starts with the foundations: how your dog learns, how to communicate clearly, and how to build a bond where your dog looks to you for guidance. Then we teach the skills on top, so they hold up in real life.
You get a clear plan, step-by-step video lessons, and the understanding to keep making progress long after the course ends.

Part 1: Foundations
Everything your dog needs before the skills begin, from clear communication to good manners around the home.
Structure & Boundaries
All dog owners need to start here. Set up clear, consistent routines and rules at home, and teach everyday manners like not jumping up, impulse control and settling when things get exciting.
Equipment
What you need (and what you don't), so you can start with confidence.
Rewards & Communication
How your dog learns, how to use rewards well, and how to give instructions your dog understands.

Part 2: Skills for everyday life
Leash Handling
Foundation lead skills for you and your dog.
Build Engagement & Focus in Different Environments
Teach your dog to tune in to you, at home first and then in more exciting places.
The Power of Play
Use play to build motivation, burn off energy and strengthen your connection.
Out & About With Your Dog
Take your training into the real world with confidence.

Part 3: Obedience
Sit & Down (Drop) Commands
Step-by-step lessons to teach reliable commands that your dog listens to first time.
Stay
Build reliable stays in both the sit and down positions. Increase distance and duration as you progress to long line training.
Place Training
Teach your dog to settle on their bed or mat on cue. It's one of the most useful skills for a family dog, building long, calm stays, impulse control and an off switch for when you need things quiet.
Come When Called (Recall)
Teach your dog to come back to you, even when something more exciting is going on. We build it up gradually, so it works at home first and then out in the real world.
